None of them were fixable. That's the whole problem. A pillow arrives at one height and one height is what you get, so when it's wrong your only move is to buy another one and hope.
This one has a zip. Take a handful of fill out and it sits lower. Put it back and it builds up. You're not gambling at checkout anymore — you're adjusting it on your own bed until it's right.
What you're actually comparing
Most bamboo pillows in this price range share the same basics. The difference is whether you can open the thing and change it once it's on your bed, and whether the seller tells you what's inside.

Why we made this
You spend about a third of your life asleep, and most of us are doing it on a pillow we bought once and never thought about again. Pillows are the cheapest thing in the bedroom to get right and the easiest thing to get wrong, because the one that suits a side sleeper is the wrong shape for someone who sleeps face-down.
So we went with a fill you can take out. Same starting point for everyone, different pillow by the end of the week. And we publish what's in it, down to the percentages, because a spec sheet that just says "memory foam" isn't telling you anything.
Questions
How do I adjust the height?
Unzip the inner cover and take out a handful of fill. Put it in a sealed bag so you can add it back if you go too far. Most people land on their setting within two or three nights. Side sleepers tend to keep it full, stomach sleepers usually remove a fair amount.
What's actually in it?
Fill: 50% shredded memory foam, 35% polyester fibre, 15% down-alternative fibre. The blend is what lets it be reshaped by hand rather than holding one fixed block shape.
Outer cover: 60% polyester, 40% rayon derived from bamboo. We say rayon rather than bamboo because that's what it is — bamboo pulp dissolved and spun into fibre. It's what gives the cover its softness and breathability, and we'd rather name it accurately than imply the cover is something it isn't.
Is there a smell when I open it?
Possibly, for a few days. Shredded foam is compressed for shipping and can carry a faint odour when it first comes out of the bag. Unzip the cover, leave the pillow somewhere airy, and it clears. If it hasn't gone after a week, get in touch.
Does it sleep hot?
Solid memory foam holds heat because it's one dense block. Shredded fill has air gaps running through it, and the viscose cover moves moisture away from your skin rather than holding it against you.
How long until it's full size?
It ships compressed. Take it out of the bag, give it a shake and a few firm pats, and leave it overnight. Most of the loft is back within 24 hours and it settles fully over the next day or two.
How do I wash it?
The outer cover unzips and goes in the machine on cold, tumble dry low. Don't put the fill or the inner cover through the wash — shredded foam holds water and clumps.
Does it come with extra filling?
the pillow starts at its fullest loft and you adjust downward, so keep whatever you take out in a sealed bag rather than binning it.
Will it flatten out over time?
Shredded fill compresses under your head night after night, and every pillow of this type settles somewhat. What shredded fill lets you do is fluff it back — a minute of working it with both hands redistributes the foam and brings the loft back up. A solid foam block can't be revived that way once it takes a set.
