The hood that lies flat on your back and does nothing.

Single-layer hoods collapse. They do not hold a shape, they do not keep the wind off, and the drawstring pulls out through a raw punched hole within a season.

This one is built double-layered so it stands up and stays up, with metal eyelets at the drawstring holes and a sturdy metal zip rather than a moulded plastic one. The fabric is a bamboo French terry with four-way stretch — mid-weight, breathable, and cut relaxed through the body without being baggy. There is twill tape along the neckline so the seam does not rub. Measurements below are generous; it is true to size.

  • Bamboo viscose, not polyester

Most soft loungewear is plastic thread. This is a plant fibre, and it behaves like one.

  • Measured, not guessed

Sizes here are matched to a chest or waist measurement. Take one measurement and you'll know.

Soft for three washes, then not

You know the hoodie. Incredible the first week. By the end of the month it has gone stiff, pilled under the arms, and holds a faint smell no matter how often you wash it.

That is polyester doing what polyester does. It is cheap, it takes dye well and it feels soft on a hanger — but it is plastic thread, so it holds heat against you, holds odour, and abrades into little balls where it rubs. Viscose derived from bamboo is a plant fibre. It breathes, it moves moisture instead of trapping it, and it tends to soften with washing rather than stiffen.

Why this costs more than the mall version

A polyester hoodie costs a few dollars to make and feels almost the same for about a month. The difference shows up in how it wears, how it breathes, and whether you are still reaching for it a year from now.

Made from what grows back

Zaremora started with a simple question: what are the things you use every day actually made of? Too often the answer is plastic — polyester sold as something softer, with the composition line buried where nobody reads it.

Most of what we sell begins with bamboo, one of the fastest-growing plants on earth. We publish what is in it, including the parts that are not plant-based. Nearly all stretch fabric contains a small percentage of spandex, ours included, because without it the garment loses its shape. We would rather tell you that than round it up to 100%.

Questions

What size should I order?

Take a tape measure round the fullest part of your chest, or your natural waist for bottoms, and match it to the size chart in the description. That is more reliable than your usual size, which shifts from brand to brand. If you land between two sizes, the fit note in the description tells you which way to go.

Will it shrink?

Cold wash and tumble dry low and it holds its size. Hot water and a hot dryer will shrink viscose, the same way they would wool — heat is the thing to avoid, not the washing machine. Line drying is gentler still if you have somewhere to hang it.

Does it pill like my other soft clothes?

Pilling comes from abrasion — smooth fabric rubbing against rough fabric in the wash. Wash it with like fabrics rather than towels, denim or anything with a zip, and turn it inside out. Polyester pills worse and the pills stay put, because the fibre is stronger than the fabric holding it.

How do I wash it?

Cold water, gentle cycle, liquid detergent, inside out. Tumble dry low or hang it. Skip the fabric softener — it coats the fibre and flattens the softness you paid for. No bleach.

Is it really bamboo?

It is viscose derived from bamboo, which is the accurate description. Bamboo pulp is dissolved and spun into fibre, and that processing is what gives it the drape and the softness. It is also why we do not simply write "bamboo" and leave it there. The exact percentages, spandex included, are in the description on this page.

Is it warm enough for winter? Cool enough for summer?

Depends on the piece. Fleece is a winter weight; jersey and French terry are three-season. What bamboo viscose does in all of them is breathe, so you are less likely to overheat indoors the way you do in a polyester hoodie. It is not a technical outdoor fabric and we will not pretend it is.

What if it does not fit?

Get in touch and we will sort it out. A size that does not work is not something you should be stuck with.
