Why yours is clipped to the outside of your bag
Not because you want it there. Because a U-shaped pillow is the most awkwardly shaped thing you own and it will not go in a carry-on without eating the space you needed for shoes. So it ends up carabinered to a strap, swinging into doorframes, dragging through the security queue, picking up whatever is on the carpet at gate B14. Then you press it against your face for six hours.
This one comes with a case. Squeeze the foam down, zip it shut, and it goes in the bag at roughly the size of a water bottle. Out of the case it's back to full shape within a few minutes.
The part nobody solves
Most travel pillows get the pillow right and then hand you a bulky object with nowhere to put it. The case isn't an accessory here — it's the reason this one ends up in your bag instead of hanging off it.

Why we made this
Almost everyone owns a travel pillow. Almost nobody travels with it. It lives in a cupboard because packing it means giving up a third of a carry-on, and the alternative is dragging it through an airport on a clip.
The BambooLux™ - Packable Travel Pillow is our answer to that, and the answer turned out to be the case rather than the pillow. Memory foam takes compression and springs back. Put it in something that holds it compressed and the problem stops existing.
Questions
How small does it actually pack down?
Roughly water-bottle size in its case. Full size it's 11.81 x 11.81 x 3.94 inches (30 x 30 x 10 cm), so the case is doing real work. It goes inside a carry-on rather than clipped to the outside of it.
Will it stay squashed after being compressed?
No. That's the property memory foam has that polyester stuffing doesn't — it takes compression and recovers. A few minutes out of the case and it's back to full shape. Give it a squeeze if you're in a hurry.
My head still drops forward. Will this stop that?
That happens when the fill flattens under the weight of your head, which is what polyester stuffing does within minutes. Memory foam softens against your body heat and holds the shape of your neck instead, so the support is still there an hour in. The U-shape keeps your head upright rather than letting it tip forward.
Can I wash it?
The cover comes off and goes in the machine. Most travel pillows are sealed units, so the best you manage is wiping them down — which matters when the thing lives in a bag and spends time on airport floors.
Is it full size, or one of the small ones?
Full adult proportions at 11.81 inches across and just under 4 inches deep. Plenty of travel pillows are scaled down to look better in a product photo and then leave your head unsupported. Dimensions are measured by hand, so expect slight variation.
Is it only for flights?
It works anywhere you're sitting upright and trying to rest — the passenger seat on a night drive, a train, a coach, a desk chair, a recliner in front of the television. The U-shape is doing the same job in all of them.
Is it eco-friendly?
Partly, and we'd rather say which part. The cover is bamboo fabric and comes from a plant. The core is memory foam, which is a plastic and doesn't break down — our supplier's own spec sheet says so. Everything in this aisle has a leaf on the box; this is the honest version of what's under it.
